Action Against Hunger

We have teamed up with Action Against Hunger. What this means is that every time you buy a Harissa Chicken Fieldtray, 10p will go towards Action Against Hunger – a charity that saves the lives of malnourished children and fights for a world free from hunger.
Mission Statement from Action Against Hunger
For almost 40 years, across nearly 50 countries, we have led the global fight against hunger.
We save the lives of children and work with their communities before and after the disaster strikes.
We enable people to provide for themselves, see their children grow up strong, and build prosperous communities.
We constantly search for more effective solutions, while sharing our knowledge and expertise with the world. We push for long-term change. We willnever give up. Until the world is free from hunger.

Acute Malnutrition
Acute malnutrition is one of the world’s most serious but least addressed problems: 52 million children under five in the world today are suffering from the condition. Severe acute malnutrition, the most serious form of hunger, is deadly if left untreated and threatens millions of lives each year. For young children, the consequences of acute malnutrition are particularly severe and reach far into the future. Our teams of nutrition experts detect, treat and prevent acute malnutrition in children so they can regain their health and fulfil their potential. Our methods for identifying and treating malnourished children are internationally renowned, having pioneered revolutionary nutrition products and field tested treatment protocols that have become industry standards. For the first time in history, game changing solutions are within our reach and we can now treat children at home, and save lives at a scale never before imagined.
Enhancing Food Security
Empowering families to provide their children with good nutrition is a cornerstone of our work. This is why long-term solutions to child hunger must tackle its root causes: problems of access, production and income. By stopping children from becoming malnourished in the first place, we can prevent the risk of long-term health implications, and make a lasting change in their community so they can have a brighter, healthier future.
Customised to meet a community’s specific needs, our programmes aim to bolster agricultural production, strengthen local markets, enhance access to sustainable sources of food, help families grow their own nutritious food, and allow families to earn an income at times of hardship.
Providing access to Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
Water is essential for life. But across the globe a staggering 2.5 billion people do not have access to basic sanitation and 783 million have no access to clean water. Clean and abundant water, good sanitation and appropriate hygiene are key to maintaining a healthy environment, especially for children. Children who are already malnourished are more susceptible to disease spread by dirty water and poor hygiene practices because their immune systems are weaker. And, in turn, waterborne diseases stop a child from absorbing vital nutrients and energy. So, a vicious circle develops that puts the child’s life at risk. Our integrated approach to hunger and malnutrition therefore involves extending water and sanitation services to communities faced with water scarcity, unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene.
